FAQ

Is the meat drug, hormone, and antibiotic free?  YES!

All of the beef that you purchase from Sharpe Creek Ranch is hormone, drug, and antibiotic free. The cattle are raised on grass in a stress free environment, thus eliminating the need for drugs and antibiotics for them to stay completely healthy.

Our cows eat a balanced diet of grass, hay and a very small amount of grain. With room to mature naturally, our cattle are fed a natural diet that has not been treated with pesticides or herbicides, and are raised without the use of artificial hormones or antibiotics. The result of these management techniques is healthy, wholesome, natural beef.

Most cattle are raised on pasture for the first months of their lives. The vast majority of them are then transported to distant feedlots where they are fattened or “finished” on a purely grain-based diet. Typically, the animals are injected with an implant that releases hormones to speed their growth and lower costs. To overcome the inevitable health problems that come with eating an artificial diet and living in stressful, crowded conditions, feedlot animals must be given antibiotics. This is the quality of meat that you find in most grocery stores and restaurants.

Our natural beef livestock, by contrast, are raised from birth to market on our family ranch. We practice environmental stewardship by maintaining natural grassland pasture. We do not use pesticides or herbicides on our pastures or on the feed we harvest. We know exactly what is going into our cattle and that is how we can claim our beef is truly natural.

Is Sharpe Creek Ranch Beef marbled?

Definition: White flecks and streaks of fat within the lean sections of meat, so named because the streaks of fat resemble a marble pattern. Also called intramuscular fat, marbling adds flavor and is one of the main criteria for judging the quality of a cut of meat. In general, the more marbling it contains, the better a cut of meat is.

YES! Sharpe Creek Ranch Cross Herford/Limousine Beef is marbled and the reason we can tell you this with confidence is that we have only had rave reviews about the quality of our beef.
